Re: [Avid-L2] Re: OT:4K and new TV's...OT

I looked at a lot of xkrs and even an xjs but post heart surgery they were hell getting in and out so I settled on an xj8 4.2 aluminum body. It does everything I could need in a car - including starting... For now. I went for black on black and it looks amazing just needs more cleaning than an average car.

I previously had a midnight blue/ red leather interior 63 Daimler/jaguar sovereign 420g which had knock off wire wheels which looked amazing. Later after I'd left the uk and sold it I bought an charcoal grey/ivory interior xj6 in Malaysia where I discovered the joys of overheating in a car whose idea of a tropical cooling kit was a $5 plastic fan on the radiator.

The xj8 was super cheap and whilst 13 years old performs better than I dare drive so I'm very happy with the choice. I'll keep until it dies but I'm interested to see what jaguar do with their 2018 hybrid or possibly electric xj and might trade up for my retirement car.

But then again at my age getting into one is a major undertaking. I put my bak out climbing into a TR 5 convertible about two years ago.

Now I'm happy with a Camry Hybrid. But I dream of the '66 Triumph GT 6 I bought new I college.

Hey David-- Wikipedia to the rescue.  Scroll way down to the bottom of the article, there's a pie chart that clarifies the mystery, looks like we are both correct, sort of.

#1- BBC 1

#4- ITV 2... Etc (details on pie chart with specific share percentages).

I didn't realize that the Beeb was/is still as strong as it is, thinking the commercial channels were giving it a much stronger run for the money.  I've been drinking too much Murdoch kool aid.

Looks like they're combined. My guess would be that the vast majority (75% minimum) of that would be BBC1. BBC2 would make up most of the rest of it and the other stuff (BBC3, BBC4, the News channels, Kids channel) would be a very small percentage.
ITV, C4, C5 and Sky (amongst others) also have several spin-off channels that appear to be combined in their stats too.

The Google stats are interesting.  But I thought the Beeb has several channels, and the Google stats only show one.  Are these combined?  Or are they identified in another way?  Curious.

Audience share of TV channels? Google has the answer (for 2014, at least).
BBC at no.1 with 33%:

Not true at all. In the UK, BBC shows made up 8 of the top 10 most watched in 2015:

Even among Sky (satellite) and Virgin (cable) subscribers, the BBC still dominates:

No commercials on the BBC, or, at least it used to.  Which is weird as I understand that they are the least watched channels there, ratings-wise, and that the Brit airwaves are now dominated by the likes of commercial broadcasters ITV and Sky.

Re: [Avid-L2] Re: OT: Should 4-20 be the Official Avid Store/Apps Manager Holidy?

Literally one day after we moved in we got a letter stating that investigators would be in out area the next week as the house didn't have a tv license.

In the 80s they used to have tv detector vans that drove around houses that didn't have a licenses and then turned on their detectors to scan for field scan noise, then the swat team generally threw in stun grenades as they came in through the windows and took you away if your survived.

These days they don't do any detecting they just assume everyone has a tv and just go to houses that don't.
