As discussed offline, I have no trouble using nvidia web drivers with 10.12.6 - macvidcards has a list of what drivers go with which build of OS X and how to figure out your build. As I'm sure you've learned, mac is not supporting nVidia past 10.13.6. (I'm having driver issues with high Sierra, but Sierra no problem.)

After installing a GTX-680 in my work macpro mid 2010 upgraded to 12 core 3.33GHz 24 GB ram OS 10.12.6 I decided to try the nvidia driver. It installed fine but when I choose it and restart it always reverts to OS X driver. I did a security update to the OS and downloaded the compatible nvidia driver for the new build and it installed but again on restart it reverts to OS X driver.I google and found things about NVram not working on certain older boards. I don't have this issue on my home mac pro mid 2012 with same os. So I'm wondering if it's the older chassis at work and given it was an upgrade perhaps there is a mixture of older hardware components.I found a utility called Clover that deals with creating an emulated nvram but it wouldn't install at work.Has anybody fought this battle? Here is a little something I found:Hi, anyone got NvidiaWeb drivers loaded with Sierra final?
Seems that nvda_drv=1 not working anymore
Clover has some changes and use new way to get it working
Got it fixed using the nvram ... dlib (in /Extra/modules) plus the NvramFile.kext (in /L/E) and setting sudo nvram nvda_drv=1.
Curious what the next step would be. The internal OX X driver works but I'm starting to take this personally. Someone in Silicon Valley has once again gone out of their way to mess with John Moore. I bet it's a sub group of the Font people that always F with me. ;-)John Moore Barking Trout Productions Studio City, CA bigfish@pacbell.net
