Re: [Avid-L2] Fw: SetAMAQTForcedFrameRate true 23.976 or AMA off-speed clips this worked:

Link to Media, then Open Source Settings and change the playback frame rate,.  Note the duration changes because its using every frame.  Transcode to Dnx-hr.

You could also Link and Transcode first, elect to keep the original frame rate, then adjust source settings on the transcoded master clip.

No console trickery needed.

This is a post from a while back.  Is this the ama equivalent of IgnoreQTFrameRate console command for importing a .mov frame for frame regardless of it's frame rate relative to the projects frame rate?  I recall hearing there are new ways in version 8 to deal with a clip that doesn't match the projects frame rate.  I haven't played with those parameters myself are the preferable to using this console command to achieve a frame for frame import or transcode?  I have to bring in a 29.97 clip into a 4K project and I have no idea how they did it in offline so I want to reimport/transcode and overcut rather than trust an import.

I thought for AMA off-speed clips this worked:

SetAMAQTForcedFrameRate true 23.976

Type

that into the console before linking and the incoming AMA clip will

link in at the rate specified. Then when you want to put it back, type

SetAMAQTForcedFrameRate false 0

and

it's back to normal. I think Job ter Burg posted that a while back. I

always use Cinema Tools to conform, so I never tried it, but it's

probably worth a try.

With 4.5 stars in iTunes, the Yahoo Mail app is the highest rated email app on the market. What are you waiting for? Now you can access all your inboxes (Gmail, Outlook, AOL and more) in one place. Never delete an email again with 1000GB of free cloud storage.

Re: [Avid-L2] CPU monitor delays

Thanks,
Yes, checked drivers for boxes, those are good.

I have been splitting the bus with the left hand monitor (bins, not playback) and haven't had trouble in the other rooms... but hey - worth a shot. Changed it out, and I'll follow up if it solves the issue or not.

Thanks Rich and Dom.

Interesting. I never tried it with an AMA linked QT. It has always ben locked with the import mattes.

The Alpha channel has always been locked in the titles. If you want to affect it you have to step in, copy both tracks, step out and cut them into 2 video tracks. Then you can apply a matte key to the alpha track and do whatever you want. Just one of the many ways that not having alpha support in the timeline sucks.

Once upon a time, if you stepped into a title or matte key, the nested elements were nicely labelled. Now they are not. OK for old hands but not good for teaching :-(.

RE: [Avid-L2] Mac issue

For a bit of extra explanation...
"sudo" is "super-user do". It tells the all-powerful super-user account ("root") to do stuff.
"chmod" is change file mode. "o+rw" gives write and read permission to other users (which means users who aren't the owner user or in the owner group). "-R" makes it recursive (applies to things inside named directory).

You can also change the owner user with "chown": chown username /path/to/file
or change the group with "chgrp": chgrp groupname /path/to/file
The -R option works with chown and chgrp too.

I would use "sudo" in the terminal:
  1. Open a terminal window (in /Applications/Utilities/)
  2. type "sudo chmod -R o+rw " (make sure you type the space at the end) then drag the problem folder into the terminal window (its path should be added to the end of the command.
  3. Press return.
  4. Type your normal password (nothing visible happens - don't panic!)
That should give all users read and write permission on the folder and everything inside it.

I need to tap the Mac gurus here.

I have some folders of footage a client put on dropbox. I download and put on my drive. But I need to update and can't. I can't drag files into the folder (get the circle slash icon) and I can't even delete or trash the folder and reload the updated. All the folders and files have the little blue lock in the lower left corner. No matter what I do in the Cmd-I unlock and unlock enclosed items…nothing happens. I can't fix permissions on this drive as its not a start up drive. How can I unlock these folders? I can't change permissions to read/write for the admin as it says I don't have necessary permissions. This is really frustrating. What can you tell me about this issue?

thanks
