Happy Holidays to all...we are having a white Christmas in Virginia! Ten inches of snow on the way, which will probably shut us down for several days....this is the south, y'all...!

Happy Christmas to all, especially Mark Anderson who underwent such a
harrowing experience of late. The L did send help all the way from the
North Pole. Saint Nick and his 8 reindeer, he should have arrived last
night.
And as he flew out of sight, or in this case site, Merry Christmas to
all and to all a good night.

[Avid-L2] Re: FCP chops one frame of Avid exported QT prores 422 HQ clip
John,
OK, I did the test with 29.97 and see the problem. Not sure if it's a bug or a design issue, but it seems to be related to fractional TC rates (29.97, 23.98) and how FCP calculates duration. The last visual frame is chopped off in FCP, but not in QT Player.
It's either an inclusive/exclusive in/out point issue, or FCP is rounding based on a true 30fps count. Therefore this 2:24 duration clip comes it as 2:23 in FCP, with the last frame inaccessible within the FCP master clip and/or timeline.
If you are sending from an MC sequence, select the first frame of the following clip as the Mark Out and export with marks. Then, you'll be OK in FCP.

[Avid-L2] Re: FCP chops one frame of Avid exported QT prores 422 HQ clip

Same results with an MC5 ProRes export.
- Oliver
[Avid-L2] Re: FCP chops one frame of Avid exported QT prores 422 HQ clip
John,
FWIW - I'm not seeing it. MC5 export. Import and render in FCP7. AMA back into MC5. Durations stay intact. I am doing this on a 25fps project with MC export as Same As Source, though, so maybe there is some issue with fractional rates or Avid's ProRes export. If I get a chance, I'll test that later.

[Avid-L2] Re: FCP chops one frame of Avid exported QT prores 422 HQ clip
These are shots that have no good region to stabilize so the Avid effect isn't to effective and smoothcam seems to do a pretty amazing job on these shots. You may be right about AE but I'd heard good things about smoothcam, I think it's something from shake IIRC. Since I don't use AE much I figured I'd try FCP.

I burned time code into the file to determine it was the last frame missing.

Re: [Avid-L2] Re: Mono to Stereo Mixdown how many db down -6 or -3 or what?
If the system is aligned properly there should be no phase difference
between left and right. In the digital domain in theory it is much
easier than in analogue. In the good old days I spent a lot of time
aligning heads to minimize phase differences.
However I am sure we have all sat at home and heard massive phase
problems on various shows. They are getting rarer.

John - completely stupid question here...
Why are you using FCP for this as opposed to AE, or even Avid's
stabilization? Seems like more of a hassle to me...
