You can have a 50 fps project. 720p/50

Correct.

You can't remove it. You can change it to play at another speed. Since the
sequence determines the frame rate of playback, any non-native clip has to
have a motion adapter applied to it - even if it is later modified to match
the initial frame rate (playback @ 100%).

Since you can't take it off, only modify it, the refresh sequence command
will obey the new setting. (Nothing changes.) Once you promote the default
adapter to a Timewarp, it won't get refreshed.

As stated above. That's exactly what happens when you modify the initial
adapter.

No. It's how Media Composer handles mixed frame rate sources in a sequence.

Not quite true. It's taking a full frame and using it as a single field -
half the resolution.

[Avid-L2] Re: 50 FPS

So if you could have a 50fps project it would play at 'normal / as-live' speed

But in a 25fps project it'll have a 200% motion adapter applied to make it 'as-live' speed ?

And removing that motion adapter will give you 'half real speed / slow-motion' playback?

But beware 'refresh motion adapters' as it'll then put the 200% effect back on?

Does applying a 100% motion effect to that clip (50fps in 25fps project) mean that 'refresh motion adapters' will not make any further changes (other than interlaced/progressive inputs/outputs are amended)? It certainly behaves that way with off-speed effects applied.

Frank is there any way of disabling or removing motion adapters from a sequence?

I can see how they are useful when mixing frame rates but I don't seen the advantage of putting a 100% interlaced output motion effect on a clip that has been assigned 'progressive' in an interlaced project - it's effectively doing nothing as far as I can make out.

Re: [Avid-L2] 50 FPS

When linking via AMA, the clip will maintain its stated timecode. Once
placed in a sequence a motion adapter will be used to play it at the
sequence frame rate.

Objet : [Avid-L2] Keyboard shift-key crashing?

Having an odd problem that we're trying to trouble shoot within our building.
Can anyone re-create this crash?

Media Composer or Symphony v5.03.5
- new project
- new user settings
- new sequence, add a clip from anywhere
- press SHIFT-2 (or SHIFT-3 or SHIFT-U) on the keyboard
- now click and move anywhere on the timeline

Lock-up and crash?

We've done the usual voodoo, new settings, trash databases and MCState. Trying
to figure out if it's the software or any background software we have running.

Thanks,

[Avid-L2] 50 FPS

HI there,

How does 50 FPS or any other non standard rate work with AMA? So If we have
a 50FPS QT that's going into a 25FPS project what happens? And what happens
to the timecode? And if we consolidate to DNx does the linking back still
work?

Thanks

N

RE: [Avid-L2] delete when not logged into interplay

Interplay 2.2 and MC 5.0.6 (yes I got the note about the .6 patch coming
down.... grrrrrr)

These are not really AMA bins though. If you turn off AMA automounting
you can just do "link to AMA file" and point to the QuickTime file or
what have you and it shows up in your bin. It's pure magic, we've been
waiting a lifetime for that function. And the irony is that you cannot
check them into Interplay ("AMA clips cannot be checked into Interplay")
for obvious reasons. But I can't delete them from that bin when I'm done
with them.

I haven't worked much with AMA.
But AMA "bins" aren't really bins as we know them. I know you can't
check AMA clips into Interplay. I'll have to experiment.
What version of Editor/Interplay are you running?
