Re: [Avid-L2] Avid Everywhere

Apple EOL'd support.  They were badgered into continuing sales. It only appeared to be pulled from the shelves. Many people still use the last version of the suite.

I wasn't arguing that point.  They totally effed up the FCPX release.  Point was when they EOLed FCP7, it was EOLed! No question about it.  For better or worse.

I think it is total BS that Avid still has DS on the shelves after saying, "by the way, we don't sell enough of these so we are killing it, but we still would like to make some cash off of you for the next three weeks...".  Not one notice on the site (that I can find) saying "this product will no longer be available on 10/1 and will no longer be supported in 12 months".  Real honest.

As much shit as Apple got when EOLing FCP7, they did it and it was off the shelves immediately.

Seriously Scott?  Apple took heat *for* yanking FCP 7 from the shelves abruptly and not having a transition period to FCPX.

Funny on the DS query. Even funnier that DS is STILL being sold on the Avid web site...seriously guys?  You would actually sell a dead product 3 weeks before its EOL?  As much shit as Apple got when EOLing FCP7, they did it and it was off the shelves immediately.

Not sure about ISIS. Great product, but not sure how much future there is in stuff like that. Looking at products like VidSharx, I wonder if setups with less than 10 seats will really need ISIS in the near future.

If they keep it, they might want to keep MC working with ISIS anyway, like they are making it work with other editing solutions.

MC, PT is where the value lies for users like us, but not for Avid, or so it seems. When it comes to PT, Avid seems to 'get' the user base (although they stick to an artificial, incompetitive product segmentation with timecode and multichannel tracks limited to PT-HD). If you look at S6, you can build most any desk for most any workflow using those modules. But it appears to me that MC is a heritage product for Avid. No real innovation for many years in MC. The only area they are taking the lead in is the whole file-based export thingy. Most likely because their Big Broadcast customers demand that.

Re: Re: [Avid-L2] RE: [OT] Resolve on ISIS 5K

I've not put big big sequences though it, but with the 2-5 minute segments I occasionally send to Resolve I've had no trouble working from my EditShare "Avid Style" workspaces.

I do have to consolidate first though, otherwise Resolve freaks out trying to index our thousands of clips for each project.

I'm looking forward to testing with Resolve v10 next week.

Hi,

I'm thinking about to replace my symphony workflow with resolve for daily tv series, maybe someone could help me (or give a clue about a resolve-l2 list like this).

My first problem, resolve can't handle media folders with more than ~100 files. If I split them into couple of folders, it works (but still scanning a folder for couple of minutes). It's quite annoying, since we have 45min long episodes with lots of material.

But my main problem is, it seems like resolve's incompatible with ISIS 5k. Huge lags especially when switching between shots. If I copy the media onto the internal hdd, it works fine.

Using Z800, intel pro pt 1000 with gigabit connection, the media files are in dnxhd 120. Any idea, what could be the problem?

Thanks,
Joe

ps: any rumor about resolve will work with artist transport?
