Oh, you're talking about new new stuff. Of COURSE they'd change it…

RE: [Avid-L2] Tape capture with Proxies

If you can capture multiple streams at the same time, why not take the BITC feed form the deck to one input and the clean to another. Then assign them different resolutions as needed.

The Bluefish card may be able to do this also:

Many on the L2 are more experienced with the Blackmagic Camera and Resolve so maybe they will chime in.

NewBlue Titler v1 comes with MC and does not need to be validated IIRC. So no need to download separately or activate.

RE: [Avid-L2] Tape capture with Proxies

It’s really whether we can keep up with the capturing… I can capture 4 streams easily but transcoding at 4 times realtime is harder esp with burn ins and also we’d have to work out how to translate the reel no etc into a burn in. So it might be I need more PC’s to transcode than capture which seems wrong!

although now i re-read your OP I realise we can’t burn in Prog name or tape name in picture.

We could do that with a watch folder workflow using ContentAgent though.

Re: [Avid-L2] Tape capture with Proxies

Nigel

you can do this in DVS Venice on all four channels at once. The proxies can be Mpeg1, 2, 4 or AFN-100 AVC MXF Proxies

The AFN-100 file format uses an MXF container with an H.264 video codec and AC3 audio. It supports timecode and ANC
data within the MXF container. If you want the BITC as well you can set that in the prefs.

HI there

We want to capture tapes in bulk to QT or avid media or OP1a, doesn't matter much and at the same time create provies for client viewing, with some burn in – timecode, tape name prog name etc. They are actually SD tapes.

I'd prefer these to be created during the capture rather than transcoded afterwards. Anyone using anything clever for this?

Thanks
