Re: [Avid-L2] Non responsive apps Cache folders

I'm still a bit confused about what EXACTLY to trash of these Cache folders. Inside the Avid cache folders are a multitude of files and folders, usually starting off with an AppMan folder. Is it the top level folder named "Cache" that is to be put in the trash? Or is it everything INSIDE the Cache folders that is to be put in the trash? Or is it only certain files inside, say, the AppMann folders that are to be put in the trash?

I'm frankly terrified of doing something inadvertently destructive.

TIA.

Make sure all  your apps are closed. Drag the cache to the trash, drag the specific permissions of AVID to the trash.

Do not empty the trash.

Reboot.

Launch AVID

Do not empty the trash until you're up and running.

What are the three cache folders called?  By "permissions" do you mean repair permissions on the mac side.  Now that I'm on Sierra 10.12.5 there is no longer a repair permissions in disk utility as far as I know.  I assume Mac OS 10.11.X still has permission repair but I jumped from 10.9.5 to Sierra so I haven't worked on that OS.

Very funky.

Are you listening, Avid? VERY funky.

I agree.  Ive gotten spoiled never crashing and now I do several times a week.  Also, lagging and sluggish on playback.  No system changes either.

The error box I described may be a function of an app called "CleanMyMac" which I use for house cleaning.  I am going to investigate that as well.

But MC performance is funky now.

I don't know, for me MC performance has taken a nosedive on the last two versions. My system has remained precisely the same, but MC has been horrible. Full of latency behavior, and crashes unlike anything I've seen before.

Any one else getting this?   Running MC 8.9.4 on OS 10.11.4 and after the last upgrade I get a window under the little  (what looks like) iMac icon in the top right menu bar of my MacPro.

The window give me two "non responsive apps" and waits for me to quit.  Sometimes it does not respond to clicking, sometimes it does.  If I leave it long enough it goes away but its really a nuisance.  I've never seen this before.  Only recently and I think it started on last Avid upgrade.
The apps listed as non responsive are:

AvidBinINdexerApp
AvidOppFrameGeneratorApp

What the heck is this?

Re: [Avid-L2] Script Sync Ver. 2.0 for Ver. 8.8 backwards compatible script bins?

Hey John,

You create a script and that script is just like a bin and can be moved around between projects.
Yes a script created with v2 will open in earlier versions. I have open scripts created in MC 8.9 with MC 6.5.

[Avid-L2] Re: Mac OC 10.10.5 MC 8.9.4 Can't Promote title tool to New Blue?

That was not the issue.  I found your thread regarding that.  What I have found is that on both my home and work systems with MC 8.9.4 you have to flip the format back to HD to have the promotion work.  The function that was at the bottom of the tool menu in 8.5.3 is now a right click on the title tool clip in the timeline.  When in 4K mode I get the error message some titles weren't successfully recreated.  If I set format to HD 1080 it works.

I'm trying to confirm on my AEs station which is MC 8.5.3 that it works promoting regardless of the format.  I'm pretty sure we tried that yesterday but I am trying to reconfirm today.  Either something changed in the promotion behavior, regardless of the new location of the function, or I have two mac systems with different OS versions that exhibit the same behavior.

The other thing I noticed is that the title tool clip showed a spatial adapter when in 4K 4096x2160 project on MC 8.9.4 but the spatial adapter was not shown in the timeline on the MC 8.5.3 system my AE has.  We did make sure to turn on show all adapters just to make sure.  Perhaps there is a new under the hood reason for this or it's a Mac thing.  New behavior to me as I start out on 8.9.4 on the first project since the upgrade.

[Avid-L2] Re: MC 8.9.4 Mac OS 10.10.5 MacPro NewBlue Title Promotion not working?

Okay I think I have a solution/workaround.  I tried a test on my home system MC 8.9.4 Mac OS 10.12.5 and I got the same error.  I noticed on both my work system and the home system  when I take the title tools that were created in an HD project at DNX 36 when I switch over to 4K 4096x2160 then the title tool clips display a spatial adapter "S".  That did not display on my AE's workstation with 8.5.3 Avid and we did check the timeline settings to make sure all the adapters were to be displayed.  I did find out my AE was in the project with the format set to HD when he promoted to NewBlue Titler successfully.

At home after creating a title tool sequence in HD 1080 23.976 I changed the format to 4K 4096x2160 and got the same error when trying to promote to NewBlue Titler.  I switched my home test back to HD format and voila I could then promote to NewBlue Titler.  Then switching back to 4096x2160 the new titles worked.

This is new behavior to me as I've never had to toggle back to HD to promote a Title Tool.  Is there some under the hood logic to this?  I wonder if it relates to why in Avid 8.5.3 there was no spatial adapter shown on the title tool clips but there was in 8.9.4?  Oh well I hate newboo Titler almost as much as I hate fonts.  I can think of 6 million reasons why this could be fixed now.

Now it appears the promotion feature is a right click and removed from the tools menu.  Thanks for moving something and not leaving it where it use to be.  So I go into effect mode and I highlight the title tool clip and right click.  There I see the option to promote to NewBlue Titler 2.  I click and get an error "Some of the titles were not converted successfully.  This happens whether I have on or multiple title tools highlighted.

I've been googling and going to the Avid online help where a search for "NewBlue" yields nothing.  I can create new new blue titles on the system so that is working.  Is there a known bug in Avid 8.9.4 with promoting Title Tool to NewBlue?

Aren't we supposed to have a new Title Tool replacement that gets rid of the need for New BOO titler?  I thought I heard that was coming a while back.

Is there some keystroke or order of operation I'm forgetting.  I know to go to effects mode and then highlight the clip so the timeline is in the foreground.  Now it's a right click but still it errors out with no change to the clip.  There is a spatial adapter on the Title Tool given it was offlined in HD not 4096_2160 could that be screwing it up?
