Re: [Avid-L2] Exporting an h.264 file from Avid with embedded closed captions?

Looks like a billable opportunity for you to provide the service of uploading to that client.  I have a couple clients I do final deliveries for.

I don't know if my contact people at the client's are the ones that do the work or not, but they seem particularly non-tech oriented. Just wanted to make it as simple as possible for them. "See, here's one file. Upload it to your channel and you're done."  That's all.

They are going to stop broadcasting, and use only YouTube from now on. They want me to continue to do their subtitling, but want the Japanese put in as closed captions so YouTube viewers can turn them off and on at will.

I realize I can deliver a video file and separate CC file, but would like to give them one h264 file that they can upload to YouTube, and have YouTube recognize the captions.

Is that possible?

Thanks in advance for any and all info!

[Avid-L2] Exporting an h.264 file from Avid with embedded closed captions?

A client has been broadcasting on a Japanese cable station, and I
have handled their open caption Japanese subtitles; SubCap works
great.

They are going to stop broadcasting, and use only YouTube from
now on. They want me to continue to do their subtitling, but want
the Japanese put in as closed captions so YouTube viewers can
turn them off and on at will.

I realize I can deliver a video file and separate CC file, but
would like to give them one h264 file that they can upload to
YouTube, and have YouTube recognize the captions.

Is that possible?

Thanks in advance for any and all info!

Re: [Avid-L2] Off-Topic: Solution needed for (offline) SATA hard drives catalog...

Hey there,

1. Norbert M. Doerner is a really responsive, client orientated guy – just to state the facts. (+1 karma)
2. sharing databeases is a different, technical thing (tah'S been resolved afaik)
3. TeamViewer is a nice add-on, but still there is "Screensharing" over vnc:// built in the macos
4. external mounting of a shared drive is VPN stuff, not necessarily TeamViewer
5. alas, you would need the license from NeoFinder to grab content of an external storage
6. NeoFinder is it

Just by experience, I am and will not be paid for this post

We currently have the database hosted on one of our servers, which is great when we are in the office. But it is difficult and slow to access via VPN.
Is there a web-compatible way to access the NeoFinder database? Or can the database be hosted on Dropbox?

Yes, that is possible with the Dropbox Finder integration, and quite a few NeoFinder setups use this ability.

Make sure to enable the automatic sync in the NeoFinder database settings for the remote users to pick up the changes made by other users.

We use Neofinder as well. Anyone working from home can just remote-in via TeamViewer to one of our shared, always-on workstations and access it that way (and do a thousand other things as well). Upgrading to TeamViewer Enterprise was one of the best productivity improvements we've ever made. You don't need cloud services or VPN's if you have a well-managed TeamViewer ecosystem - it does pretty much everything, and cross-platform too (Mac, Windows, Linux). Like Timbuktu used to be, only better.

My company has been using NeoFinder for the past five or so years to index our project and archive SATA hard drives.

It works great - launch the program, drag in the drive and presto! The hard drive gets indexed and cataloged. Now it's searchable and anyone in our office with the NeoFinder software can search all the drives to find old jobs, project files, raw media, etc.

BUT - it really only works when connected to the in-office server. VPN from home? Nope.

There is a ton of DAM software out there that can search a DAM server (or cloud server) but doesn't work for removable / external SATA hard drives.

I have a library of more than 200 SATA drives (plus backups) sitting on a shelf that I want to have a cloud-based updatable catalog, that is searchable through a web interface.

Anyone heard of something like this?

Thanks in advance.

Mobil tarayıcınızı açın ve twitter.com'a gidin. 3HWxIrhsvr
