I never did much on an 820 as I've been mac centric at my work places.  I remember the 820 was quite a power house back a few years then the 840 came along.  What is the current choice in the HP world for a full tilt Avid setup?  Is the 820 considered old news and not that powerful in todays market.  I'm stretching my cheese grater mac out for a while longer but curious what PC I might consider down the line.

[Avid-L2] BCC 8 Gausian Blur Custom Shape Crashes Avid?

 

Mac OS 10.8.5.  SNDX 6.5.4.7 BCC8 (not sure how to check version but probably the latest from Avid site). 
When I apply a gaussian blur the regular not real time version and turn on pixel chooser then go to region and choose custom shape, and then select the custom spline tool as soon as I apply the first anchor point Avid crashes with a main thread buss error. 

If I do the same with a normal shape like inside rectangle no crash.  It doesn't crash until I make the first anchor point.  I restarted but same behavior.

I virtually never use custom shapes but I'm pretty sure I have done it successfully on my Ver. 8 startup drive on the same system.  IIRC as soon as I choose custom shape in the PC Region section I get a prompt to choose the custom spline tool.  I did not see that prompt today.

Anybody see this behavior?  I normally would use paint effect but BCC offers smaller increments of blur as I'm battling moire.  I found that a blur of "1" in Avid paint effect is equal to BCC Gaussian Blur setting of "3". 

I guess my work around will be apply BCC blur with no pixel chooser and nest it in an animate. 

Bummer I was hoping to up my BCC pixel chooser skills.
