I am confused as to what kind of titles you are creating with TC generator. Are you making lower thirds etc... it sounds like you are creating slates. I haven't beat my head against Titler+ in a while but I agree all these add hoc creations after Title Tool was abandoned are unnecessarily complex and confusing just like I always found Marque. I realize these can be powerfull tools in the right hands but they are steep learning curves in many ways. Many aspects in BCC Title Studio are similar to AvidFX/Boris Red and that was always more than I wanted to deal with.

That defaulting of parameters like drop shadow is very annoying it also happy with text positioning. I’ve made Lowe left lower 3rds and when I type over it recenters the text now I know to look at the animation toggle.

BCC Title Studio has been constant frustration for me, the learning curve is impossible (almost).

Nothing about it is logical, nor understandable. Sometimes you just get lucky and make things work after a lot of searching for answers.

To make a simple title,

First Delete the Default Title, start from scratch with a New Flat Text Object.

Then create your title.

If you want to make a drop shadow, you have to find the Shadow tab in the Controls window.

Then you can set the parameters. You must check the Drop Shadow box in the Shadow Tab, or it will not become active (default state is off!) It's a little tiny box that is easy to miss, so you will be frustrated as to why you don't see the drop shadow.

In the Text Box, there is also a control for Drop Shadow. Those two controls dont seem to be identical, so I couldn't say why there are two different areas to control the drop shadow.

I do not want to waste the time and drive space to duplicate so much media. I was looking for what SHOULD be a simple process if Avid would only keep their software up to date. In the end I did a normal trim based Consolidate and am living with the inconvenience.

By far, the stupidest body part removals of my career happened shortly after the Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction fiasco. PBS made an overnight switch from allowing brief bits of actual body parts to psycho paranoid. Around that time I was working on a show about a WWII Army Air Force turret gunner. They made me remove any nipples that appeared in aircraft nose art. Aside from being an important part of history, a lot of those paintings are amazing art and I was forced to denipple it. I regret that I chose to make my work invisible, as if the painter had left them out or the paint had been worn off. In hindsight, I should have made big obvious blurs.

Around the same time I was working on a documentary that had a scene that was shot in a prison. One of the inmates had a tattoo on his arm that was a line drawing of a Native American man wearing a war bonnet. He had nipples and they made me get rid of them. Apparently, someone didn't get the word that women didn't normally wear war bonnets. If a drawing has nipples, it must be a woman. BTW, several of the men in that same scene were shirtless. I guess their actual nipples weren't a problem. JB

The weirdest blurring I ever did was on Alien Autopsy back in 1995. The doll (oops, I mean alien) had no genitalia. But the network thought it would look better if we blurred the crotch so it seemed like there was something there. Hours of my life wasted...

[Avid-L2] OT: Tips on Canine Blurring?

Watching a re-run of Cops and the perp was blurred during the take down. This I understand but what amused me to no end was they blurred the two dogs that were yapping away and jumping on the perp literally standing on the perp and yapping at the police.

I've never had to blur a dog or cat in my life. Was the blur squad at Cops just having fun or do they have a nefarious Doggie Blur policy? IIRC Tom M use to shoot for Cops perhaps he can solve my blurry doggie dilemma. ;-)
