[Avid-L2] Re: Another CC + Effect Mode Q

"started 8 or more years ago when Avid stopped any real development."
I think that could be said of media composer and symphony too although the 64 bit recoding was a task. I still like my Avid but this Resolve for color correction push really makes me wish I could tell them I could just do it in Avid just as good and much faster. I can get almost as good for my docu/reality stuff but even some sort of workable secondary color correction and I'd tell them where to put the Resolve. ;-)

Let me suggest a contrary POV. For many editors AE is their finishing tool. Premiere Pro CC is now offering some viable conform options (along with a good editing toolkit in general). The combo of Premiere Pro PLUS AE PLUS SpeedGrade will have many folks viewing this as the finishing toolset (if not specific "tool") of choice.

If you poke through some of the older film case study stories in the trades, you'll find a lot of mention of AE as a preliminary tool before the final DI. Sometimes Premiere has also been there in a "stealth" mode to be a conduit.

While not a "hero" system, it will likely gain traction outside of the hardcore TV and film post world.

better yet, after your sizable investment in DS, you have to pay $1500 for those old features! too damn funny.

Re: [Avid-L2] Re: DS Piece in Studio Daily

Smoke 2012 was an ideal replacement for ds but ironicakk in their move toward simplicity and timeline centric workflow more akin to ds I think 2013 has lost a lot if what made smoke unique.

There is a pretty big price leap going to flame though...

Re: [Avid-L2] v7 Waveforms Disappearing - Help!

An update on this - I added an audio file to a project this morning, AMA linking to an AIFF. No waveforms to be seen. Symphony 6.0.4 Mac. I then imported the file instead - there were the waveforms so I think I'm right in that some AMA audio will not display waveforms. Should this work?

Smoke, yes. Premiere, no. However, Adobe has the entire suite so that makes a compelling argument.
