RE: [Avid-L2] 2 Unity at once?

Just like to add that we found that when we upgraded to Z800's from our 8600's we lost the ability to connect to both ISIS and Unity. BSOD every time with the Z800 systems.

ISIS is ethernet ony, and uses a specific Client Manager. But, you can load the Unity Fiber Connection Manager (first) and connect to both. Works with ISIS 2.X, not 3.x.

[Avid-L2] Re: 1080 to 720 levels Q

What if you capture at 1080 into avid and cross convert using the avid or maybe a similar approach using fcp. How do 1080 internal bars from avid or fcp look when cross conveted through video output cross convert or An aja etc... To cross convert?

Using the deck OR the Teranex to downconvert to 720p 59.94 has the problem. It is certainly (not likely though) that both the SR Format converter and the Teranex are not working correctly but that seems to random (but not ruling it out yet). 5800. No level mismatch. And it's not really a full shift. If I look at bars, the 100% white is about at the right place and Black is about at the right place but there is a lot of noise peaking up at 110 and black noise down to -10.

Re: [Avid-L2] OT: My daughter's review of the Editor's Lounge

My daughter once looked at me and said "Daddy, your movies are really
boring...."

She was right.

[Avid-L2] Re: 1080 to 720 levels Q

What deck are you using? I'm guessing a 5500. Could there be a color space or yuv vs rgb mismatch. The levels you mention sound like a 709 vs rgb offset. The fact that the teranex shows the same result is very curious. I don't have access to a 5500 right now so I can't try to play along.

I tried both NTSC BlackBurst and 720p TriLevel Sync. It's very strange. The 1080p 23.98 output is fine. Using the deck to convert to 1080i 59.94 is fine. Using the deck OR the Teranex to downconvert to 720p 59.94 has the problem. It is certainly (not likely though) that both the SR Format converter and the Teranex are not working correctly but that seems to random (but not ruling it out yet). I've spoken to Sony and they are looking into it. It was too late by the time I left a message with Teranex.

Lowpass. Like I mentioned, it all looks good at 1080i or p, whichever we send to the edit room. It's only 720p that's problematic.
