In Europe when playing a 60I or other ntsc vinage DVD/BD are you likely to
see flicker or some other anomalies when surrounding lighting sources are 50
Hz.?

Re: [Avid-L2] Crazy monitor problem

Check/re-install AJA drivers. They must be the NDD (no MacIntosh Desktop) version.

I go to System Pref / Displays / Color. When I change the profile for the right monitor it applies it to the right monitor. When I change the profile for the left monitor it applies it to BOTH monitors. And the profile for the right monitor is still being applied so its getting a double profile. Totally messed up.

Now what makes this even more messed up is that at the same desk I have another system that is the same hardware (CPU model and display card) and it works the way you would expect it too. There are a couple of software differences between the two systems. One is messed up one is running 10.6.6 and the ok one is running 10.6.3. And the messed up 10.6.6 system is a FCP/Kona3 system while the ok 10.6.3 system is an Avid/NitrisDX system. So a little bit of different set of cards and installed software.

I do have CS3 Production Bundle (minus PremierPro) installed on the FCP system. Would there be an Adobe item causing this?

So, anyone have any ideas? Other than wipe and reinstall? Which I may have to do.

Jay

[Avid-L2] Simple Question About International Blu - ray

Need to make a limited amount of Blu-ray disks for foreign use.

France
Germany
Japan

Not quite clear on the actual video format needed to put on the discs for each
market?

Presently the program is U.S. Blu - ray 1080i. As mastered from an Avid 1080i HD
project.

Couldn't find much information on line regarding Blu-ray formats for use in
those markets.

Since this is non-broadcast I pretty sure PAL vs SECAM vs NTSC-J doesn't enter
into the process.

Would like to get some confirmation that 1080i 60 is okay for foreign
distribution. Or if I need to consider 1080i 50 or 25p.

Good to know the difference in versions. Isn't this rather limiting when you try to feed tape decks etc that want 48K? My online world has always been centered around 48K so I haven't had to deal with other sample rates for the most part.

However, the OP wrote 01V, which is an entirely different machine than the 01V96.
The 01V doesn't do it, AFAIK. I own two, neither of them do.

Also, even if it DOES generate its own 48 clock, your decks and Avid will normally slave to a word clock that is derived from the BB Gen, so if your mixer is generating its own clock, different from your decks and Avid, you are asking for timing issues (jitter, static, crackles what not).
