I think it's bonkers that the default is that when you drag a sequence from Interplay into an Avid bin, delete half of it for fun, check it back in, that it overwrites the original. Nuts. This should be an option.

But I have a solution for those who can enforce this discipline on a limitless number of freelance editors, producers, engineers, assistants, runners and anyone else that happens to be in a building full of Avid suites...... if you CONTROL-DRAG (Windows) the sequence into a bin, it copies it. Voila.

Have you tried the highest rated email app?
With 4.5 stars in iTunes, the Yahoo Mail app is the highest rated email app on the market. What are you waiting for? Now you can access all your inboxes (Gmail, Outlook, AOL and more) in one place. Never delete an email again with 1000GB of free cloud storage.

Re: [Avid-L2] export settings

Afaik, there is only metadata altered by the RGB / 709 flag.

Most encoders can be setup to assume 709 no matter the flag (Or will ignore it anyways.)

Try an export of both, and AMA link to the exports, see what Avid shows you.
(I'm on Win, no ProRes export here from Avid.)

Anyone have the right formula for QT ProRes 422 exports out of avid. Lately clients have been asking for masters as ProRes and I jump between Avid settings being Legal or expanded color full range. Legal seems a bit washed out and full range seems a bit dark. In QT settings I go between gamma correction automated and none. Its a lengthy process exporting each setting and never seems to be the right match. Never for broadcast. Usually going to server or once in a while to DVD.

What is the right combo of settings to go to Pro Res?

mus.iD is now free! Yes, free! The AMA plug-in is now available for free with the same functionality as in the previously paid version. Why the change? It is part of a new offering now available called Producers Report that allows not only music to be reported, but any custom metadata you need to track, where you can easily add templates and key words to get just what you need in an Excel ready file with durations calculated for each event, easily managing many different types of reporting needs. Stay tuned for more info on Producers Report in the very near future.

[Avid-L2] What is AvidOPFrameGeneratorApp and why does it keep crashing my Media Composer?

Other than my specs, I think I said it all in the subject line. I can't find anything useful through any search I've tried.

Re: [Avid-L2] Avid Upgrade into 8.5 range?

I find 8.5.3 my sweet spot for Avid and BMD. At work, 8.6.0 works fine with ISIS, although all the hardware is Mojo or Nitris or DNxIO

In my experience, it differs based on which bugs will cripple your workflow the most. I'm now running multiple different versions on my systems so I can workaround. But for pure stability, I would still choose v7. Sad, but true.

Re: [Avid-L2] Avid Upgrade into 8.5 range?

Avid Artist control is the audio board right?  I googled that just to make sure.  Given you said it became slow and unusable I started to confuse it with the Artist Color panel that has never been usable in any practical manner in Avid while it works fine in other apps.  So now even the flying fader boards aren't sensitive or precise enough to use with latter Avid versions.  That is very disappointing.

While the dB suffers the exec bonuses seem to be going to "11".  ;-(
