[Avid-L2] Re: Resolve Processed Media for Avid allowing ama relink?

Don't use tape name. Master clips in Avid with a tape name have their source path and source file name erased.
Use Tape ID.

Have you tried the highest rated email app?
With 4.5 stars in iTunes, the Yahoo Mail app is the highest rated email app on the market. What are you waiting for? Now you can access all your inboxes (Gmail, Outlook, AOL and more) in one place. Never delete an email again with 1000GB of free cloud storage.

[Avid-L2] Resolve Processed Media for Avid allowing ama relink?

In my very limited use of processing media in Resolve for Avid use I found "Assist Using Reel Numbers" and basing the reel numbers on the file name was the most robust workflow.  With those settings the clips end up with classic tape names in Avid that reflect the file name.  My usage was only on projects with 6 or so camera sources that never had matching file names.  I could see where this could get messy with multiple days of shooting where standard Arri or Panny Varicam could easily produce multiple files of the same name if not careful.  Most of the standard cameras we use include a date in the file name so that's less of a problem but dealing with Sony file based stuff seems to end up with a lot of redundant naming of XD Cam files.  Fortunately most of my workflows are Avid Centric and now that I can add a LUT in Avid I haven't had much use for Resolve processing media for Avid.

I am curious given my above mentioned workflow generates a standard tape name for the clips wouldn't this workflow prohibit relinking to camera original ama'd clips?  My understanding is once a tape name is added to a clip it losses the file path metadata and prohibits relinking to ama original clips.  The typical work around is to ama link and manually add the tape name to match the existing clips.

Is there a better workflow for processing media in Resolve to use in Avid that will still allow a simple relink to ama'd original files?  Would this be some sort of AAF type export out of Resolve?

Re: [Avid-L2] Avid End of Year Sales Only for subscription not perpetual?

Seems like they want to encourage people to cross grade to subscription and discourage the purchasing of perpetual licenses (though still offer them).

Personally, I'm considering moving from perpetual to subscription, but the whole pricing matrix makes my head spin.   It may actually be advantageous for me to sell my perpetual license (if I can) and re-subscribe.

Keycode did a nice article on the different choices.  It seems that the end of year deals are all for those wanting a subscription or those willing to switch from perpetual to subscription.  Am I understanding this correctly?  There appears to be no deals for the typical 299 annual support renewal.  Here's the Keycode FB post:

I see QNAP is offering a variety of DAS/NAS type storage units with Thunderbolt 3 as well as 10GBe connectivity.  Has anyone installed one of these via Thunderbolt and if so (and if you used it as a DAS for post) how was the (2K) performance?

I don't have personal experience with QNAP but it seems like there have been backdoor/security issues with their devices.
