Re: [Avid-L2] Re: Symphony Nitris classic 'sfplayconsumer' error

While unplugged, press the power button on the computer for 15 seconds. Does a little better discharge.

Just my usual shot gun suggestion. Shut down everything and remove the power cord, especially from the computer itself. Leave the computer and bob unplugged for 5 minutes and then plug them back in and restart. Sometimes this drains the PCI bus power more completely than just shutting down. Many times things come back up with a new view of the world and work. The power bus drain is an assumption based on this working several times but I can't say for sure that's what makes things work. Hope it works for you. Next would be reseating the Nitris boards in the computer.

If you wait around ten seconds and remove the effect then it behaves normally. This seems to happen with any effect or when you apply a colour correction. Tried new project and restarting PC and BOB with no success. Tried Googling and there was some mention of Wacom drivers, but I don't have any Wacom device installed. There was also a mention that it might be corrupt media or bad stripe, so I captured some new media on the C drive (to rule out the SCSI devices), put it into a new sequence but without success.

Re: [Avid-L2] Rocket raid, anyone using it?

What model is the card? I've got the 2680, and it's running 2TB
disks just fine. If it has two SAS connectors, you can probably
run up to 8 drives.

Their site seems to have the manuals and specs on all their
products... http://www.highpoint-tech.com/

[Avid-L2] Symphony Nitris classic 'sfplayconsumer' error

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with a classic Symphony Nitris system. It's the usual xw8400, Nitris BOB, Avid Mediadock local SCSI storage, with version 5.03 of Symphony.

Although everything seemed to startup fine (no hardware errors, BOB power switch shows green and I can see video output from BOB), there's a problem occurring when you try to add any effect to a sequence. When you do, the system becomes extremely sluggish, the clip refuses to play and the error 'SFPlayConsumer::Execute TIMEOUT' appears on the record monitor.

Anyone come across this one before?

Thanks

[Avid-L2] Re: Partitioning drives for different MC projects

Well any time I have to deal with another department I get slowed down. I'm sure your system works for BM but when I run into a revised cut and just need 4 shots captured I can do it in minutes but when I have to find an assistant to do it I can wait for a lot longer than it takes me to just do it. That's just the reality every where I work. I'm talking about finishing/online not the offline process. The one thing I've asked about FCP and FCP rescue is when you trash preferences with FCP rescue the next launch of FCP asks me what capture scratch disk I want and it sets all the various folders to that drive. When I go back later to change the location I seem to have to go through several parameters. This may be do to my lack of FCP chops but I like the one button approach I get after trashing preferences. I'd love to know how to get that functionality without trashing the preferences with FCP rescue. Of course that's a question for another list.

Dear Group,

Great replies to this question so far. My query, which would
have been

"How do I get off this planet?" seems so trivial now.....

But Roger,

Once you have multiple users and shared storage, you should be so far past "individual digitizing" that that the "scratch disc" location is irrelevent. Think "ingest department" rather than one person/one system.

It's digitizing "evolved"... and when you can do that, you won't miss Avid ONE BIT!

Would the capture scratch settings be part of the preferences store with the user?
