Re: [Avid-L2] renewal

I believe I just made the same mistake. I did not notice the checkout page charged me for 2 upgrades???
Plus, i did not get an e-mail confirmation, since Avid has the wrong email address for me.
It was very confusing and trust that Marianna, when she returns, will do her best to attend to this.

MC 8.4.1 with mac trashcan with BMD box = audio sync
problems, constant fatal error messages, weirdness whenever you go to desktop and back to MC. Basically no reason to not just go from trashcan videocard to fullscreen playback.

It took me some time to find and validate the golden combo, but well worth it. Deployed for over a year now - stable and troublefree.

Key to success were the desktop video drivers from BMD. We settled for 10.3.4 after testing about 6+ versions.

Pretty sweeping statement, Owen - and not my experience at all. The facility I work at has around 30+ decklink cards that have been working without issue for up to 6 years. Can't remember the last time one had to be replaced, but I think at least one has been.
We were an FCP facility until switching to Premiere a couple of years ago. We have a handful of AJA cards too, but had too many problems getting them to play nice with Premiere (edit stations using AJA breakout cards/boxes were far less stable than those using BMD, possibly due to driver issues).
I understand that the situation is different for Avid systems though.

Re: [Avid-L2] Premiere and Media Composer

On a MacPro 5.1 with 32 gb ram under OS 10.9 with a Decklink Studio 2 I can switch back and forth between Premier and After Effects CC2015 as well as Media Composer 6.5.4 without any issues, not withstanding which one acquired the hardware first.

When I run Resolve Lite 11.2, over these three, Premier freezes and MC release the hardware and keeps working, After Effects is not affected at all.

When I quit Resolve, everything goes back to normal.

Re: [Avid-L2] Premiere and Media Composer

BMD has a buggy history with Avid, though it's been mostly sorted out (or so I am told).  Never had any serious issues with Adobe or FCP when I owned s BMD card.  Had to switch to AJA because of Avud issues.

Re: [Avid-L2] renewal

I can't tell you how resentful I became of Avid as I now have 4 guys
cutting a show in Premiere and wasted hours a day for a couple of weeks
before moving on. You can't write comedy this good.
The guys seem to like premiere - i made it to lunchtime on my first day
of training before I decided to bow out.

Re: [Avid-L2] renewal

I fought against the renewal process myself, and felt like a moron for being unable to find my way around the My products page and the Avid online store, I ended up calling Avid Italia and a very kind lady sent me the link to purchase the renewals, kind of a secret link, because the page is not accessible from the regular Avid online store homepage, the renewal is not there for mere customers, call it mission impossible 6. The kind lady was kind enough to reassure me: I'm not the moron, the real moron is whoever "designed" the My products page and the Avid online store, she knows for sure, since she has to deal with lost customers quite often. If You're not in Italy and You can't deal with this magic lady who follows the steps of Marianna, I'm afraid that Your only option is the real Marianna, if Your license(s) do not expire before she's back.
