Re: [Avid-L2] Re: Yosemite Support Announced NOW for MAC Pro only?

Thanks for the advice Raj.  Good idea.

I wasn't clear in my post.  I haven't bought the computer yet and I wanted to make sure Symphony would run on that iMac before I bought it because MC 8.2 only lists the Mac Pro but I'm pretty certain the newest 27" iMac will be OK.

Hi

I've got a Media Composer 8.x dongle for sale which can be yours now for the great price of $1,000, including the transfer of registration, a savings to you of $100.  This is a perpetual license, currently retailing on the Avid site for $1,300 plus the $500 value of the dongle means an overall savings to you of $900!

I got all excited when I read that Yosemite has been blessed.  My old and creaky Symphony 6.0.4 running on a 2009 Nehalem Mac Pro is ready for AARP and Social Security like it's owner.

However, upon closer examination on the Avid website I don't see the new iMac 27 retina display as being usable for Avid.  I can't seem to find any mention of the new iMac at all.

Anybody know what I can do to find out?

Thanks

Tony

[Avid-L2] OT: Happy TurEditorDucken Day [1 Attachment]

Thought I'd get a jump on wishing a happy Turkey Day to the L2.  Very thankful to have such a wealth of knowledge shared by so many.  I found a new receipe for an editor based Turducken.  Hopefully the attached photo will be self explanatory.  I have to go start the brineing process.

Re: [Avid-L2] Dvw-a510

You're welcome to it.

ring me at the office monday, or email me directly monday and we'll make arrangements

I can also ship it to you if you pay for the shipping and ship back my shipping case.

Ha! You should have to take one of the UVWs to get the DVW ;-)

[Avid-L2] UVW1800 / DVW510 (ntsc) free to a good home

I put these on craigslist for $100, just lowered to $50. I suppose I could try ebay, but they're expensive to ship...

I have 3 UVW1800s with relatively low hours on 2nd heads; one DVW510a (play only digibeta/betaSP) that I bought at auction as a spare, but never used.

Pulled from the rack when we stopped selling dubs... still have a few of each for digital service station jobs, but tired of storing these and prefer not to make them landfill if you can use them. (No, you cannot use them as boat anchors due to lead in circuit boards, but if you need stylish door stops, have at it.)

Email me directly if you want them. be sure to mention this avid-l2 listing, so I don't try to squeeze $50 out of you (for a machines that were originally, what... $18k?)

Here are the pictures:

RE: [Avid-L2] Re: I used Marquee

Well, it's only the credits, but, hey, it's resolution independent so why not?  I just made sequential tiff files and dropped them into Nucoda.

Warmly on a cool day,
Seth

Having only inherited Marquee titles on rare occasions I wasn't aware of this capability.  How is it such an old piece of software has the capacity to create a DCP.  Wasn't Marquee developed long before there was a DCP?  Perhaps I'm just completely out of touch with this.  Very interesting workflow.

Hi y'all,

Guess what I did?

I used Marquee.  For a 2k DCP.

I'm more comfortable in Softimage than Adobe, so sue me.  It worked like a champ.  (A very slow champ, but a champ nonetheless.)

Warmly on a cool day,
