Re: [Avid-L2] I/P Mode greyed out on Sony PVM-2541?

I had one of mine repaired and the menus seemed different afterwards- including not being able to find flicker-free.  I never use that so I didn't give it much thought.

Nowhere near the monitor now, but I will compare software versions with another that I have...

I own an old Sony PVM-2541 that didn't originally have the Flicker Free mode.  Sony added that for free many years ago.  I just had the monitor professionally calibrated but the audio sync seems off.  I went to check the I/P mode in system settings and it is darkened with a dash like it's greyed out.  I tried turning flicker free off but it is still greyed out.  Rather than show a mode it just shows a dash.  I haven't looked at this in years so I'm wondering if the calibration, done with calman software, or something got updated with the flicker free mod that deactivated this setting.

I know more recent models like the a250s don't have this setting.  So would the flicker free mod have deactivated this.  I don't know why it would.  Or could something in the calibration process locked this out.  Or am I just missing the right menu setting to activate it?  I've googled but haven't found anything in the menu about why I no longer see the choice.

Re: [Avid-L2] Plug-In for AMA Link to BRAW?

Well, I don't know. That's the heart of my question. Anyone from Avid eavesdropping here who can give us an authoritative word on this…?

Much obliged,

D

Didn't Avid decide a long time ago that it would be the camera manufacturers who develop the ama plug ins?  I assume this is still true so it would fall on Black Magic to come up with plug in, wouldn't it?

No, I haven't. As I understand it, Desktoip Video 11.1 is only for people who have Decklink and use the Blackmagic Design video cards. I don't have that.

What I do have is someone shooting material with a Blackmagic 4K Pocket Cinema camera in 4K BRAW. I need to transcode it to DNxHD for editing in Media Composer, but I prefer to not have to go through Resolve to do it. What I want to do is link to it the way I can with .R3D's or ArriRAW directly through AMA in MC. So far, Avid does not yet appear to support this.

I'm wondering if there's any indication of when they will.

Thanks,

DD

[Avid-L2] Re: Usb rack hub

You can get patch panels like these
But you still need hubs behind.
To maintain the best throughput I'd look at USB host cards in the computer and then break those out to a panel or via additional USB hubs.
But take care a USB hub connected by USB is a bottle neck for bandwidth potentially depending how fast the drives are.
