Re: [Avid-L2] Want a daVinci... for free?

PostgreSQL is relational database. Presumably Resolve uses it. It's legit, I
wouldn't worry about it.

Re: [Avid-L2] OT: Re: Auto Hot Key

Hold on. One of the most heinous things a freelancer can do on a
client's computer is start installing software unannounced! I've been
on both sided of this, and I always ask before installing ANYTHING.
Are you sure he wasn't actually asking you if it was ok, instead of
demanding that you set it up for him? (I've been on both sided of that
miscommunication also.)

Owen if you baby the editor you bury him. If I need a special tool I supply it. That's not beating someone up that's telling them the right way to do it. Yes if you are renting to someone and they make a small request like this it's good business sense to supply it. And as I mentioned in the thread I'm double shifting and in a pissy mood and because the editor in question isn't part of the list but a client of Ken's it's a good chance to vent. Some standalone recorders can flag the recorded content as 16x9 anamorphic. My (old!) Sony RDR-GX3 and RDR-HX710 do that.

Re: [Avid-L2] LTO-5 cartridges

I recently installed the same system here and love it a lot.
I'm currently 'saving' money (using more stock for cheaper) by using LTO4 tape.
I've been using Fuji - and it's been both archiving and restoring great.

I've also used HP stock when supplied from an outside vendor.
(I'm quite proud of how I've been able to make this deck sing even with non-Cache-A media)

[Avid-L2] Data Track (or Metadata track) q

Client is on v5 MC w MojoDX offlining in SD at low res in a 16x9 project. In the past, for screener DVDs, they just play out to a low end DVD recorder and it plays out in real time. Since this is a 16x9 anamorphic sequence, the DVD records as anamorphic and will play back stretched on a computer. They are on a Mac and I showed them how to use Toast Titanium to burn a proper 16x9 DVD and it works fine. I'm wondering if there is a way, possibly in a Data or Metadata track to add an Anamorphic flag of some sort so they could play out of avid into their DVD recorder and have it play back 16x9 properly or is the Toast route the only real way to go for this?
