Re: [Avid-L2] Way OT: Adobe CS6 updater ???

Well if you ask Adobe, it's "illegal".

On a more reasonable note, the biggest issue I can think of is compatibility with others on current versions.

I use Adobe products once in a blue moon…ask the G5 in my basement still running CS4.

It did take days to get a actual call from Adobe.  I went through the AI chat questions, then got forwarded to a real person chat that only got me a link to the installer I already had.  They wanted to remote in, but I can't allow that at the studio.  So that necessitated getting a call.  After the 48hour window and no call came in I got an email asking if my issue had been resolved.  I said I was still waiting on a call that I never got.  The weekend passed and I got ANOTHER email asking if my issue had been resolved.  I replied that I STILL and not received the support call.  Then about 5 hours after that I finally got the phone call.

Re: [Avid-L2] Housekeeping

That's interesting.  I started on a PC Symphony Meridian and never got asked that question even when I had duplicate media on different volumes.  Things like series graphics and other common elements to each episode would end up getting consolidated twice if I wasn't careful.  I'm surprised I never got the prompt you use to get.

Re: [Avid-L2] Housekeeping

That was an awfully long time ago. I guess that media management is better now and Avid can cope with duplicate media. As I prepare a lot of teaching material I come across this and it can be tricky to clean up - always the danger of deleting original media that seems to be linked to different clips.

Re: [Avid-L2] Housekeeping

Thanks guys.
Apparently Avid no longer gives up a heads up about dupe media.
Would make things easier, since you can't do it any longer in MDV.

I am waiting to hear from Avid Support on another issue,
so that may be an opportunity to ask about this.

Herding cats, indeed!
