Re: [Avid-L2] Hardware raid enclosure
I'm very fond of this 4-bay Areca hardware RAID box, which has given me no trouble over the years, save for having to put an extra cooling fan in front (I like lower temps for my HDDs), and sends me emails every night saying everything's OK:

Note: This is NOT a port multiplier...you use 4 eSATA cables to your card
(I use a Firmtek 4 port eSata card). It is much faster that way...I get
over 400MB/sec.
Don't get the Rocket Raid card they offer with it. I've had nothing but
problems with Highpoint products. Never again.

[Avid-L2] Re: 2GB limit
I've seen this too, weird flashback, ain't it? Export consolidating or copying the media files to a folder.
[Avid-L2] OT: Great Customer support from Tektronix
Just wanted to share a very positive experience I've had with Tektronix, Inc. regarding the purchase of a waveform monitor. I know Tek scopes tend to cost more than some of the others but I got what I consider a really good deal on a B stock scope. Unfortunately the shipping date wasn't going to be in time for a project I'm starting soon. The folks at Tek arranged to get me a demo/loaner unit in time for my project. That's what I call customer support. It reminds me of the Grass Valley Group and now AJA, who have a lot of former GVG folks. I'm not saying anyone should go out and buy a Tektonix scope but if you are in the market they are way more competitive in their pricing than I thought they were and you can't beat the support. Besides any company that sends Steve H. around the country doing color correction seminars for free is worth doing business with.

[Avid-L2] Re: Resolve 9 beta version 2 Now Baselight keyframing
Oh I'm not asking for beta testers to disclose that info. IIRC after NAB there was an email sent out to a lot of people asking if you wanted to be on the mailing list for info when the avid plugin was available. Maybe it wasn't really beta but it sounded like a public trial was planned for the future. Maybe like the Avid 30 day trial. I just never heard anything back and had forgotten about it. I thought they were going to have something to play with around mid summer. Sounds like that hasn't happened yet.
