Try adding PWN in front of the word youtube and you'll get a bunch of options, including KeepVid.com

Add "pwn" in the URL, before
the word"YouTube". As in http://www.pwnyoutube.com/

When you click the link a page comes up with choices on what and how to
download.

I'm pretty sure (and just tried a spot test) that youtube's change their system so this Activity window trick doesn't work anymore. At least, it doesn't for many YouTube videos. Sigh. Progress.

Re: [Avid-L2] Pulling Video From YouTube

Actually, I read a tutorial on the web about how to use Safari to do this very easily. Basically to the the Window menu in Safari. In that menu is an option for Activity. Open your YouTube page, play the clip you want and check out the activity list. The biggest file that shows up is probably the video. You'll see a large file in the Activities monitor (MB instead of KB) downloading as the file plays. I think you can just drag that file to your hard drive when it's done playing.

i just add the word "keep" in front of youtube in the URL, and it loads keeep-tube.com, and displays all the download choices. Doesn't work for every video, but most.

[Avid-L2] Re: [FCP-L] MC6 HD in SD Timeline

Not as straight forward as in FCP, it takes some manual labour and Avid FX: capture/import the HD footage with the project set to the proper HD resolution, cut the HD clip(s) to the timeline, switch the project format to HD, export QT ref files of the relevant clips, switch the project back to SD, go to an HD clip in the timeline and drop an Avid FX on top of it, open it and load the corresponding QT ref file in Avid FX, adjust to Your likings and thank Mr Difficult (nomen omen) from the Avid forums for this technique. Many users have been asking Avid for resolution indipendence for quite a few years now, please join us in the Avid feature request forum...

Hello Robert F,

Thanks for the tip on using the Uninstall in the application folder from
existing version of MC rather than the Uninstall app on the MC upgrade disc
image.
Reading through the PDF Avid install manual some of the finer points on the
steps can be missed.

Will be trying this on Monday.

Thanks for the heads up and submitting the photoshop issue. I gather though that the quicktime issue that has been discussed on the Avid community page is not going to be fixed. We also have a lot of archived projects where quicktime media (movs) has been imported to Avid FX.

I appreciate that you monitor this forum and respond so quickly,

[Avid-L2] FCP project AMA won't relink to sequences

Greetings wise ones from a long-time lurker.

I have inherited a FCP v6 project. Successfully imported the sequences via AutoDuck.

AMA links to all the media files (HDV tape sources) but sequence clips won't link to this media, except for 1 clip.
In AMA bin I notice no tape names (even though FCP project has them)
and no TC out for any clips except for the one that successfully relinked.

I can't find a way to modify the AMA clips to give them TC outs. Adding tape names to both sets of clips doesn't help.

Any ideas on this?

Many thanks

Ash from Cape Town

Re: [Avid-L2] Media Composer 5.01 to 5.5 instal tips

If you have already blasted your dongle, to 5.5, you're set. Otherwise you need to go to:

http://www.avid.com/us/support/upgrade/video and enter the license key that should have been emailed to you to get a updater.avd file to upgrade the license info stored the dongle.

I would do this first as occasionally the web site is cranky and you need to call support. Of course you can run 5.5 as a demo until the dongle is blasted.

Other than that, you should use the existing MC version uninstaller in the Avid_Uninstallers folder.

[Avid-L2] Media Composer 5.01 to 5.5 instal tips

Hello all,

Doing some catching up on a MC install and some wisdom is always appreciated.

Installing download upgrade version MC 5.5 on an existing MC 5.03 version with dongle.
MacBookPro - OS 10.6.8
Before I mess this up --

Since it is a dongle lic. version I assume that there is no software deactivation in the first step.
Step 2 Remove the dongle.
Step 3 Run MC uninstall from 5.5 download disc image
Step 4 Run install MC 5.5

All good?

Searched Avid forums on upgrade tips -covers allot of other facts on upgrade paths but lost in the forest is the simple path to enlighten.
I know Mariana has responded to 5.5 install steps before Vers 6 release but can't locate the post.
