Not as straight forward as in FCP, it takes some manual labour and Avid FX: capture/import the HD footage with the project set to the proper HD resolution, cut the HD clip(s) to the timeline, switch the project format to HD, export QT ref files of the relevant clips, switch the project back to SD, go to an HD clip in the timeline and drop an Avid FX on top of it, open it and load the corresponding QT ref file in Avid FX, adjust to Your likings and thank Mr Difficult (nomen omen) from the Avid forums for this technique.
