Re: [Avid-L2] Migration in progress - Donations

Zell is kind of one of those US industry standards, Most US banks are hooked up to it – it can be found here: https://www.zellepay.com/

PayPal works as well - though I think they may take a fee out of things. That can be sent to my email address as well Jeffsengpiehl@yahoo.com

I think as we move into the 2nd year, Will be able to look at the Donate feature on the Groups I/O, but for now it was out of pocket for me.

Thanks robots!

Great news on the migration. Long time reader, occasional poster. The Avid-L is such a landmark, it had to be saved to a better location.

Happy to contribute!

Now question (might have been answered, not 100% sure): do I need to make an account on groups.io? Or will the migration create an account for me automatically?

Pierre

Re: [Avid-L2] Migration in progress - Donations

Hi Jeff,

I thought Avid-L2 had abandoned Yahoo Groups for Facebook! How are Groups.IO and Facebook going to be different? I think I already have a Groups.io log in, so I'll stop by and send a contribution. Thank you for taking care of this.

[Avid-L2] For Media Composer Engineers & Programmers - Blackmagic BRAW Issues

Hi, guys,

Blackmagic has released an another update today to their BRAW plug-in, allegedly giving it full functionality with Media Composer. But alas…

Whereas you can easily link to BRAW footage; and whereas you can (sort of) play it in the Source Monitor, and cut it into the Record monitor, into a sequence…

…YOU CANNOT TRANSCODE in Media Composer to DNxHD resolutions.

The relevant column in the bin says that the clip is 'Unsupported.' And yet we can still link to the BRAW clip, and see it happily in the Source and Record monitors.

But we just can't transcode in Avid!

Blackmagic says this should work. But it doesn't. I don't claim t know where the fault lies. I'm only submitting an issue that I would love for Avid to be aware of since a lot of people are using this codec.

Many thanks.

David

Re: [Avid-L2] All Yahoo Groups content to be deleted...

I would think VideoToolShed could come up with an App/Program that will migrate the Avid L2 list, convert your  files to any format aspect ratio, change the time code and audio config, make the audio meet dialogue norm specs and provide an edl and aaf of the entire process.  Of course as always it would be very reasonably priced too.

Correct, but the consensus is that Yahoo Groups (and likely Yahoo) are being decommissioned a piece at a time and it's time to make plans, at least.

BTW, make sure that Donate button is active. I will check when I sign up. I don't think you'll have any trouble covering expenses.
