RE: [Avid-L2] Aspera Amazon etc

Along this line for working on shared project assets,
Saw this at a recent Toronto Creative user group meeting.

Resilio Sync
Resilio is an automated file transfer app.
Similar to drop box but syncs with P2P file sharing.
Here is some info.
For the uninitiated, a Resilio primer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqwfbKyIpIU
: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqwfbKyIpIU

Here is the free version of Resilio,
https://www.resilio.com/connect/

50% off promo code for lifetime purchase of Resilio Pro (It gives you more control over
the files you share):
Approx. $70 Cdn

https://t.co/AwdUqG91UL

It's ability to completely eliminate the need to backup/endlessly
'upload/download' files and to reliably send LARGE terabytes of data.
Resilio completely 'decentralizes' post-production which enables those who use this program to
work: Anywhere.

Hi list,

So for a small shop that would like to be able to transfer large files to other facilities in other countries, what would you recommend?

I've been using WeTransfer and DropBox, but have in the past worked with facilities that provided transfers to and from their Aspera Connect Server, and that's really something.

Is there a similar solution for a small shop like mine, and what kind of $$ would we be talking about? On average I think I'd need to do two 100GB uploads per month.

Thanks for any tips.

Have you tried the highest rated email app?
With 4.5 stars in iTunes, the Yahoo Mail app is the highest rated email app on the market. What are you waiting for? Now you can access all your inboxes (Gmail, Outlook, AOL and more) in one place. Never delete an email again with 1000GB of free cloud storage.

SOLVED (thanks Jason Schwab):
Change over to HD format, if you're in NTSC (SD) mode.

Sorry for the bandwidth.

Cheers,

Is anyone out there in post-production land using a "chip-chart reader" plugin for Premiere Pro?

I know this type of functionality is built directly into Resolve, but I'm not editing in Resolve.

I've found a utility for creating a 3D LUT from a chip chart, but it's for photograpy and not video.

My Google-Fu is not strong today.

Thanks in advance!

Re: [Avid-L2] OT: Project Aspect Ratio Settings in iMovie on iPad?

Went to Fry's and pickup a IStore N Go from Verbatim.  When first plugged in it automatically directs to the app store to get the Store N Go app necessary for it to work.  Of course that requires a password that I assume my daughter has but she's at work now.  Repluging in the drive doesn't give the same prompt so it's only the first time it's plugged into the device that it directs to the necessary app.  Fortunately the app store still points to the app so when she gets home I can see if I can install it with her password.

I really hate having to deal with this primitive non intuitive interface of IOS.  The fact that Apple is moving the normal mac OS systems closer to this interface is disheartening.  Oh well we did find out that older versions of iMovie do offer a 4x3 project setting but apparently the current version that is on this school iPad does not.  One step forward and 5 steps back.

Can you add apps ?  There are other editors besides iMovie.  Pinnacle Studio for iPad has more control over how stills are handled.  Not an expert but I have played with it.

Re: [Avid-L2] OT: Project Aspect Ratio Settings in iMovie on iPad?

I don't have an answer for you but I will say BE VERY CAREFUL what
buttons you tap in IOS. I was trying to restore some music to iTunes on
my iPhone from iTunes on my notebook on Friday. When I selected to
music and clicked "restore" it (without any real warning) wiped my phone
and restored it to a mid 2016 backup. Today, it took 2 hours by myself
plus 2 hours with Apple support using 2 iPhones, my land line and my
notebook (simultaneously) to restore my last iCloud backup.

My advice; read exactly what every button says, think about what that
might have actually said in whatever language was native to the code
writer, think about every misleading auto translation you've ever read,
think again, count to ten and then reconsider before you tap anything.
That said, have you tried connecting your Mac to the iPad via iTunes?

Re: [Avid-L2] OT: Project Aspect Ratio Settings in iMovie on iPad?

Thanks for the tip.  I ordered one just in case we have the issue down the line.  I wonder if the lock the school puts on the iPad will inhibit the flash drive.  We have iPhones in house and an older iPad but I think they have the older connectors so it probably won't work on those.  Maybe there is an adapter from new to old.  If nothing else it's not a bad usb 3 flash drive.

So far no insight how to fix the project and no way to migrate  without an unlock code that I doubt the school would give out.  Perhaps the school tech support could help but with all the hoops went can jump through the biggest hurdle seems to the lack of compatibility of "Parent Suggestion" to "Teenager Action" or in this case lack of action.  If apple came out with an adapter that would make teenagers do what their parents say to do, I'd be first in line and the biggest fanboy.
