Marianna should be able to sort this out for you. I had a similar issue few years ago. As you've found out, your Avid license is linked to your specific computer. If it dies, as your has, the license is still linked to that now-dead computer and Avid won't allow you to de-activate the license since it cannot communicate with the old computer. Marianna can override this state of affairs, de-activate the license from the old computer and allow you activate your license on a different computer.

Still not working. Quit everything. Shutdown. Restart. Etc. After the third time everything was back the way it's supposed to be.

Fine. It failed. But what does it want me to do? Deactivate on my previous computer? Can't do it. That computer's motherboard and SSD fried itself into oblivion and is no longer a functional piece of hardware. So that's no going to happen.
So HOW do I get around this 'Seat count failed' problem on my new activation?
