isn't that asymmetrical for a midpoint effect? Where you have (out_out_out_in_in_in), where would midpoint be? In between two frames (an impossibility). Try 7 frames for a midpoint, then you have an actual frame which can be the middle.. (out_out_out_WHITE_in_in_in). Just a thought.
I find a fade up and fade out on a white title clip works better and is easier when it comes to adjusting.

So I am seeing an oddity with dip to color on Avid 8.9.4 and Avid 7.X. When a dip to color is placed at a cut point duration 6 frames starting 3 frames from the cut the effect doesn't go to full white in the middle at the cut point or to full black if dipping to black. The foreground control goes from 43 on frame 3 (last frame of outgoing cut) to 57 on frame 4 (first frame of incoming shot).
