I'll test a 7 framer to see if it plays nice. Kind of odd given 3 frames before and 3 frames after the midpoint is right at the cut point in terms of actual duration. It sort of reminds me of something I just read about changing the frame rate of an After Effects composition. I read that the keyframes in After Effects are based on time not on frames so when you change the frame rate the keyframes may no longer fall on frame boundaries and they might need adjustment. It will be interesting to see if 7 frames will work because I'm not sure given the midpoint of 7 would be 3.5 frames but the custom transition only deals with full frames although I can't say I've ever tried to enter a decimal point in the dialogue box.
At least if I manually add a keyframe set to 50 at mid point it works with a full frame of white. I inherit the sequences so I think in this case it's probably faster to add the keyframe than replace with title tool white but nice to be reminded of the option. I'm just surprised I haven't noticed this more in the past.

isn't that asymmetrical for a midpoint effect? Where you have (out_out_out_in_in_in), where would midpoint be? In between two frames (an impossibility). Try 7 frames for a midpoint, then you have an actual frame which can be the middle. (out_out_out_WHITE_in_in_in). Just a thought.
I find a fade up and fade out on a white title clip works better and is easier when it comes to adjusting.
