[Avid-L2] QT Pro Export Error -34 or -31 Disk Full?

After successfully exporting a QT Ref of 1;07;00;00 long Avid QT Ref export to ProResHQ 422 usning QT Pro 7 to my online storage drive there was still plenty of room for a second version to be exported to the same online drive.  The online drive is fibre attached using SanMP to the 16 drive chassis.  The final prores file is under 90 GB.  There is 130 plus QB free on the online volume.  When I try to export a second version it cranks for around an hour then gives a disk full error -31 or maybe -34.  I googled this error but haven't found anything that seems related to my issue.  I then went to export to a usb 3 drive and that worked.  I also tried exporting a smaller more like 60GB file to the online drive but still got the disk full error.

After the usb 3 drive worked I then used an internal raid on my computer and that worked.  I was then able to copy files to the online drive at the finder level.  I'm thinking this is one of the cases where QT Pro is trying to map out extra space with a sort of temp file like I remember hearing FCP 7 or earlier did.  I can see how the 90GB file might not have enough overhead but I would have thought the 60GB file exporting to  130GB of free space would work.  I always thought double the file size and that should work for overhead.  Can anybody shed some more specific details as to how much QT Pro needs in extra free space when exporting a file.  It seem doubling the file size isn't enough in my particular case.  Just curious as I've got the work around now but not liking to have to copy the file a second time to the online drive for other computers to access.
