Avid should really understand that PhraseFind and ScriptSync are a real MARKETING DISTINCTIVE. They set the product apart. They keep it from being a COMMODITY. If Avid had a marketing department, those two sentences would have them JUMPING UP AND DOWN. Sadly, Avid hasn't had a marketing department since about 1994. For Avid to be so completely tone deaf to the specialness of some of its features while promoting crap like 3D is beyond me.
What Avid should do is try to make these features available as widely as possible and PROMOTE them instead of choking on whatever piece of legalese is in their contract with Nexidia that has some lawyer's panties in a bunch. Avid needs to come to an agreement and THEN they need to actually DO something with these features instead of letting them fester in some backwater of the R&D department. ScriptSync is awesome, but it also looks like a piece of 1990s code. It could be a great, great, great addition to the software. It could be a great calling card. It could be - let's see if I can get someone's attention at Avid - something that ENTERPRISE installations of Avid would crave because it would increase EFFICIENCY and DRIVE DOWN COSTS!
Come on Avid. You had to have known that this contract was coming up for renewal. How did you let it get this far down the road without resolution? As of now, you have a lot of people REFUSING TO UPGRADE. That can't be a good financial position. There's really NO reason to upgrade no and at least two BIG reasons NOT TO.
Hernandez should stop showing up at ACA meetings and hole himself up in his office and make a phone call and get this resolved.

It could be groundswell. PhraseFind is not implemented to its full potential, neither is ScriptSync.
Sent from my iPadThe problem is that this is not a "groundswell" feature. Only a select group of users need it. But it's a very very important group, and if Hernandez doesn't know that, Avid is in real trouble from the top; more than usual. To me, the ACA seems more than ever like a simple cash grab...another way to try and get a consistent revenue stream. $299 a year for this, $150 a year for that...what BS.
