Re: [Avid-L2] What wattage UPS should I get for small MC workstation?

You can find UPS sizing calculators on various reseller sites. For example:
http://www.refurbups.com/UPS-Sizing-Calculator-2
Not specific to our industry, but you can get a sense of what you need.

But heck, why not just buy a refurbished APS Smart UPS 1400 or 1500 from Refurb UPS?
http://www.refurbups.com/Refurbished-UPS-Systems/APC-Smart-UPS-Tower-Specials
$200 or $300, depending.

I've had two 1400 units for about 10 years now. Replaced the batteries a couple years ago ($80/each). Good power conditioning, lots of backup time for me (good if power fails while I'm walking around the block or something). Worked fine when my office was in a true mixed-use neighborhood with spiky power and some neighbors who dimmed our lights when they fired up their business.

I think Jeff Kreines first turned me on to Refurb UPS.
