That's basically what I just bought... HP Z800. I truly was hoping for a hot MacPro with TB etc, but no.
I'm in agreement that Apple is dumping pro users. Even the direction of the OS towards iOS is a big indicator that they want to create a biosphere that captures and contains an entire family and all of their devices and all of their ENTERTAINMENT MEDIA in a closed loop. No one else gets in and it becomes very difficult to get out. The pain points between their OWN devices are dropping and the pain points between Apple's products and anyone else's are increasing. You want to be a Mac user with a Blackberry? That's going to suck. You want to have an Android and an AppleTV or MacBookPro? Why? But if you own Apple, then Apple owns you. I say this as one of its happy little prisoners. I have 2 MacPros, an iMac, 2 MacBookPros, countless iPods, an iPad, an iPhone and three AppleTVs.... not to mention G3s, G4s, and the original Mac+. Once they have you, they have you for good unless you want to start all over again with a new ecosystem.
