Thanks Terry. Yes, I too included a link to that software in my post. My question was -- what is everyone's opinion of the software.
And, also, is the preferred model the JVC DT-R24L41DU -- or something else?
Finally, I have been informally following the PVM-2541 -- and while it is more expensive than the JVC or Flanders -- it certainly won't break the bank and promises better performance.
I do have some concerns about the OLED panel lifespan -- especially with the hours it will see in a postproduction studio.
I'm also a bit concerned with Sony's quote "OLED monitor performance, however, typically changes over time and requires regular recalibration to maintain its original performance".
It seems the AutoWhiteBalance feature on that monitor can be facilitated with a PC and a X-Rite Eye-one Sensor -- I just don't know what kind of investment of time and hardware will be necessary to keep the display generally optimized above and beyond that.
Do you have any thoughts, concerns or comments on that subject?
Thanks

Off axis viewing is pretty good - we have ours sitting at the side of the Avid monitors but i reckon you'd get away with placing them above with a slight downwards tilt, viewing angles are actually quite wide, easily wide enough unless you have a really avant garde interpretation of where you should place your monitors. Can't comment on the calibration tools but for non-critical reference monitors I like them quite a bit. HTH

More specifically, if your Avid monitors were 24" and were mounted very low to your working surface (say, only 3" inches above) -- and the JVC was sitting directly above your Avid monitors -- would you consider the JVC's performance to be compromised by being slightly higher than eye level? Would you feel it was necessary to "aim" the JVC at a slightly downward angle in order to achieve an on-axis orientation? Or would you prefer to put the JVC at the same elevation as your Avid monitors -- just off to the side?

If you want to donate to Red Cross quake relief, you can do so through your cell phone. Text redcross to 90999 to make a $10 donation. It will be on your next cell bill.
