Always been very conservative with our management of file based media.
To date we have been leaving the clip name untouched to preserve a record of the
actual clip name as it exists on the source card, drive, download, etc. The clip
name as created by the camera or etc.
To log and name clips we have been using custom bin headings. However, these do
not show up in the timeline. Suppose we could use the comments field but
"comments" is a poor fit for what this data really is.
Wondering about a few things:
Am I being too paranoid about changing the native P2 clip names assigned by AMA
as it auto logs the bin? Is it safe to change these? Feels weird to do so.
I can see a situation where I may need to do some re-linking or investigation
where it would be very useful.
Is there a media file name bin heading that can display the source P2 file name,
as there is in the Clip Text timeline setting? The bin column item labeled
"media file" does not populate. Couldn't find anything else which displayed
data.
If there was a media file name bin heading which worked as such, would the media
need be online to populate the fields or would it remember it in its last state?
Would be great if we could change the clip name column and add another column
with the original native P2 clip file name.
Is there a way to have custom bin headings appear as timeline clip text?
Ideas?
