How about more market penetration? I imagine the big markets are still pretty robust for Avid, but I've seen San Francisco area flip pretty solidly over to FCS. And it's not just independent documentary and narrative feature, it's corporate and even some advertising as well. I stopped being an Avid instructor because there simply were no new users to instruct anymore.
It seems selling a few more units might help them some.

Subject: [Avid-L2] Re: Symphony owners?
It seems like a lot of this comes down to a better way for Avid to continue
making money. Obviously, if you fold Symphony features into MC and not increase
the price, then that might be a negative move financially at this point in time.
But there are some alternative pricing strategies. For example, keep the MC Soft
price where it is, but pull out Marquee as a paid option and increase the
bundling price for the Production Studio add-on (Avid FX, BCC, Avid DVD,
Squeeze).
