That's understandable. In my universe, the difference in cost is more than covered by the increased color corrector. The time savings can actually be measured, and time is money. Also, there is still a cache to the Symphony name. Part of that is due to the past performance, and part is due to the fact that someone who spends the bucks on Symphony, is more likely to outfit the rest of the room correctly. Trying to color correct on MC without an external scope on a cheap LCD is ridiculous. (as an example)

That I understand also. However, if you believe in the future of Media Composer, and you can recoup the cost difference between the two systems in less than a year, then what difference does it make? I doubt Avid is going to roll the Symphony into MC at this NAB.
Now choosing Avid over Apple or Adobe? That is an entirely different conversation.
