Totally agree. Using cloned drives between two remote editors is a pretty typical way for Avid editors to work when they don't use shared storage for collaboration. It's an area where linking/relinking and edit-it-place techniques are really dicey, unless everyone is very careful.

It's exactly those issues that become the bane of existence for "finishing" post houses when an offline editor brings an FCP job in for onlining. The more time you take to control your media management so that it becomes idiot-proof down the road, the better off you'll be. It's one of the reasons I go through a lot of elaborate steps with HDSLR media in FCP or MC - BEFORE I ever launch the editor.

Although a number of us have mentioned positive experiences in this thread about AMA and P2 media, all you have to do is poke back through the Avid-L2 or Avid Forums and you'll see many posts from people who did "all the right things", but their AMA media no longer linked for one reason or another.
