One other thing that AMA is good for (vs. the old Avid 'Import' workflow)
It is much faster creating the appropriate Avid media files.

I suppose this doesn't answer L&T vs. AMA issue - but is something that makes a large difference for us in starting an Avid job.

One other thing I really like about it, is it's ability to lay off to video without having to transcode to anything.
For example H.264 camera files go down to HDCamSR in real time vs. the time we have to spend 'rendering' to pro res to lay off in FCP.
