Well, I can't stand BMD. As far as you other issues go, sync drift,
pops and crackles, edit-to tape accuracy, you should check your setup.
I have never had these issues with FCP/Kona. I insert edit all day
till the cows come home. Sync drift? Only seen it with HDV, and that
was because there was an offset setting in the preferences. Popping
and cracking? nada here or on any of the system I have installed. I
vote for "operator error" again. Sorry.

I agree that they are excellent, but as much as I can point out my
own issues with Avid's gear, I also find it to have an edge over FCP
with AJA or BMD gear. Issues like FCP sync drift, audio pops and
crackles, edit-to-tape accuracy and more come to mind. The true saving
grace is that AJA gives stellar support and has an almost
no-questions-asked repair/exchange policy.
