[Avid-L2] Revisiting Import Setting for 648x486?

So I get a graphic 648x486 for an SD show.  No problem the top import choice will stretch it out to 720 and all will be a proper aspect ratio but NOOOOOOOO  it comes in all fuzzy etc.  I posted about this a while back.  If I choose the bottom import choice it comes in correct.  Back in the day before they renamed the imports to avoid confusion I could use the top choice for a 720x540 or 648x486 still and they would come in correct.  Am I misremembering this?  I can't believe I am.  Now if I resize the graphic constraining propertions to 720x540 it comes in correct on the top import choice.  To my weary eyes the 720x540 import from the top choice is a little less sharp than the 648x486 import using the bottom choice but they are identical in size and aspect.  As I asked when I had the same issue a while back, did something change in the import mechanism.  I was taught it was better to use 648x486 to import into Avid because there was no
vertical rescaling only horizontal, but that is not a debate I want to start now.  Did I really have it wrong all these years regarding 648x486 imports? I really think they use to work using the top import choice.  The top two choice were for non square import and the bottom two were for maintain square pixel IIRC.  Besides the naming convention did some functionality change in these settings or am I just totally brain dead?
