Or you can get burned if the A-10 time code sense is set wrong so you end up sending 30 frame code down the RS-422 and as long as it's a number that exists in both, under ;24 Avid will go and make the edit in the wrong place. This may have been fixed but I did see this 2 ish years ago. Theoretically the Time Code Sense is self aware of the mode and how much time code offset if any should be applied but sometimes I wonder. Also the time code sense in the past seemed to effect whether the Avid saw the SRW-5500 as a 23.98 or 59.94 deck so it wasn't just the frame rate settings on the machine itself but the A-10 setting would effect how the deck auto configured. It's been a while since I've been on one so I might have that a little fuzzy.
