Re: [Avid-L2] According to Avid site 1080I HD is even lower field first?

OK - I am now confused, too. I did the Avid 340 Symphony Nitris
finishing course in Tewksbury a couple of years ago and the course
book states that 1080iHD is Odd (Upper field first). Where is Greg
Staten when we need him (well, I know the answer)?

I've been taught that HD video was generally odd upper field first as

File Field Order

This setting defines how the source material is interlaced.

· An odd, or upper-field ordering uses the first line of each frame
for field one.
· An even, or lower-field ordering uses the first line of each frame
for field two.

NTSC 601/DV resolutions have an even (lower field first) ordering
PAL 601 resolutions have an odd (upper field first) ordering.
PAL DV resolutions have an even (lower field first) ordering.

1080i HD has an even (lower field first) ordering.

I am very confused now.
