[Avid-L2] According to Avid site 1080I HD is even lower field first?

I've been taught that HD video was generally odd upper field first as opposed to even lower field first for SD video.  But according to the Avid Site this seems to be wrong. The site;http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=263545

File Field Order

This setting defines how the source material is interlaced.

· An odd, or upper-field ordering uses the first line of each frame for field one.

· An even, or lower-field ordering uses the first line of each frame for field two.
NTSC 601/DV resolutions have an even (lower field first) ordering.

PAL 601 resolutions have an odd (upper field first) ordering.
PAL DV resolutions have an even (lower field first) ordering.

1080i HD has an even (lower field first) ordering.

I am very confused now I've been importing QT graphics as odd upper
field first for a long time and that has worked.  My recent Apple HDV
nightmare did seem to work importing even but I thought that was an
anomaly.  Am I wrong to  think of SD as even and HD as odd in the NTSC
world?
