A proper AMA'd clip can be relinked back even after it has been transcoded. 

In the US, 1080i is for CBS and NBC. 720 is used by FOX and ABC/ESPN. 

Most cable broadcasters take 1080i with some allowing 1080/23.976p (i.e. HBO).

was actually 720. not 1080.  Delivery specs for this outlet

say 1080.  Is this/was this never the case,

720 vs. 1080 in the USA?

If relink is not possible, 

then I suppose blowing up to 1080

is the only option.  Not ideal,

but an option.
