USB 3.0 is 5 gb/second
Thunderbolt 3 is 40 gb/second
It's difficult to find any PCI cards for Thunderbolt 3 that aren't made for very specific PC motherboards (certain Asus).
If you aren't averse to
PCs there's a Designaire motherboard with working T3. Make it into a Hackintosh and —voila— headaches!
Maybe the cheapest way to go is to get a Mac Mini with T3 and 10gigE and a PCI 10gigE card for your Mac. But you'd lose a lot of speed.
