[Avid-L2] MC 2018.12.3 Stutters on 10bit timeline with ProResHQ?

I posted about this a week or so ago.  MacPro mid 2012 12 core 2.66GHz, Mac OS 10.12.6, Tower GTX-680 GPU 2GB mem, 64GB ram, cyclone microsystems expansion chassis with two Titan X GPUs.

For my 4K work I usually transcode to DNxHRHQX for coloring.  To facilitate a ProResHQ file for QC I render an upper track Safe Color Limit to ProResHQ.  At work this works fine and I can playback after rendering with no stutter issues,  work is a mid 2010 upgraded to 12core 3.33GHz with everything else similar but only 24GB ram and no expansion chassis.  On my home system the playback of any proreshq render is stuttery with timeline setting in 10bit green.  If I switch to 8bit green it plays fine.  I'm wondering if the 2.66GHz vs. the 3.33GHz at work is the explanation for the difference in performance?

I have since found out even ama linking to an HD downconverted file stutters on playback when timeline is in 10 bit mode.  That is in a 4K DCI 4096_2160 playing back off both internal raid 550MB/sec read and an external usb 3 graid 300MB/sec read.

So I'm curious if I upgraded the CPUs to 3.33 or maybe there is 3.46GHz if I could get stable playback on ProResHQ renders?  If I render to DNxHRHQX I get stable playback.  It seems something about ProResHQ even an HD clip is very taxing on my home MacPro.  Other than CPU speed I don't know why it works at work and not at home.  I haven't really hammered on my home system in a while and most of the work was HD but I have used it a lot for transcoding and don't recall this issue until now.

Any thoughts?
