I would have suggested you contact Gary Mandle at Sony, he was always helpful and informative on the Sony monitors. Unfortunately last time I tried to contact him I got a response email he was no longer with Sony.
Does anybody know of a good Sony monitor contact like Gary Mandle was? I miss him more than he will ever know.
From what you describe I would suspect the power supply isn't quite handling the load. This is just a guess but when it tries and dies that's a common source of issues on all equipment.
Keep us posted on your tests.

Power LED does not flash - it turns on, and the monitor starts to boot up, then just shuts off with no LED. I'm going to try moving it to it's original location, once I get a delivery done this morning, and see if the behavior is the same - maybe I have a bad outlet or power conditioner? Seems unlikely, but it's just as unlikely that the monitor would fail simply because we moved it to another room.
