That also took away the issue of not being able to adjust audio in the source monitor.   Two for one!!!

Did you see Job's response?
It sounds like your mixer is in Auto mode instead of Clip.   Look for the button that says Auto on it and cycle through back to Clip.

Im still trying to find out why adjusting volume on my mixer creates keyframes in the audio track in the timeline.  Where do I turn this function off?  

Can someone explain the Effects tab in the audio project settings window?   Is this where I might turn this off?
